Advent in Makarska

The most wonderful time of the year! From December 1 to January 1, the town at the foot of Biokovo transforms into a true winter paradise – the perfect blend of Dalmatian charm, family enjoyment, and international musical hits.

 

The first lighting of the Advent candle will mark the beginning of the holiday season, and on December 6, the energetic Jelena Rozga will open the musical part of the program with a grand concert. Expect performances by local artists such as Petar Grašo and Psihomodo Pop, and a special treat – a performance by the French band Nouvelle Vague, bringing a sophisticated urban sound and unforgettable atmosphere to Makarska. All of this culminates with the New Year’s Eve celebration, when Makarska will shine in all its glory with the legendary band Novi Fosili.

 

This holiday magic wouldn’t be complete without fun photo spots, Advent photo booths, large nutcrackers, and colorful decorations throughout the city, inviting visitors to take pictures and create lasting memories.

 

In addition to the entertainment, there is also a gourmet corner for all palates – Advent huts offering aromatic treats, from mulled wine and homemade cakes to other holiday specialties.

 

LITTLE ADVENT – for the youngest

 

The biggest children’s Advent on the Adriatic brings a rich program full of fun and magic for children and families, taking place at three popular locations in Makarska. At Trg Hrpina, children will be welcomed by Santa Claus's igloo and various creative workshops, while Trg Tina Ujevića will host an ice rink, perfect for joyful skating and play on ice. At Kačić Square, performances are prepared that will delight all visitors and create a special holiday atmosphere.

 

The opening of the Children’s Advent begins on December 6 with the arrival of St. Nicholas, and from then on, numerous activities and performances start. On December 8, young viewers will enjoy the play "Which Season Is the Most Beautiful?", and on December 13, St. Lucia will visit Makarska, bringing additional magic and more. The Magic Show with Luka Vidović on December 15 will amaze everyone present, and it all concludes on December 31 with the children’s New Year’s Eve celebration, completing the holiday magic and filling every child's heart with joy.
